I can see why they’ve done it of course. Not because everyone needs a character to denote sarcasm in the written word, but because they want to charge everyone $1.99 to get hold of the flippin’ thing.

Absolutely, and anyone that thinks this will add value when sending a jokey email to an American is, of course, maligning the intelligence of that great nation and their ability to appreciate witticisms.
